Highlights
HemdenBox - The shirt shop for branded shirts since 1999
Men’s dress shirts are part of the daily business outfit, are worn in everyday leisure time and are indispensable for every special occasion. Men’s shirts are a must-have in every man’s wardrobe, regardless of whether they are worn in a casual look, with suit trousers or as a dress shirt with a tuxedo.
The selection of modern branded dress shirts is large, and sometimes it is not that easy to know which shirt should be worn for which occasion, which collar style is modern or what the differences are between the various fits. We give you an insight into the world of short-sleeve shirts and long-sleeve shirts, as well as helpful information about the perfectly fitting men’s shirt.
Since 1999, HemdenBox has been your certified online shop for business shirts and casual shirts. In our online store, you can order branded dress shirts from well-known manufacturers for every occasion, in all sizes, all fits, different fabric types and collar styles, and of course always easy-care, easy-iron or non-iron, with free shipping.
Modern shirts from well-known brands in the HemdenBox online shop
Some of the best-known brands for men’s shirts include Seidensticker, OLYMP, Eterna, Marvelis, Casa Moda, Venti, Pure and Redmond.
These branded shirts stand out through high quality in comfort, fabric quality and modern designs. All manufacturers offer short-sleeve shirts and long-sleeve shirts, plain and patterned shirts, with different collar styles and in different fabric qualities.
One of the oldest manufacturers of men’s shirts is certainly Seidensticker. This traditional company, still family-run today, was founded in 1919 and is one of the brands known worldwide. The first non-iron men’s shirt was also developed by Seidensticker.
Among the best-known weaves for shirt fabrics are poplin, the opaque, breathable and durable shirt fabric. The Fil-à-Fil weave is a combination of two yarns, creating a very fine mixed tone. Chambray fabric is easy to recognize by its slightly shiny surface. White and coloured threads are woven together here. The high-quality branded cotton shirt for men is breathable and skin-friendly and offers maximum comfort all day long.
Perfectly fitting collar styles
The most important modern collar styles include the Kent collar, also called the New Kent collar, the cutaway collar,
the button-down collar and the wing collar for
dress shirts and tuxedo shirts. The Kent collar is a true all-rounder. You can wear this collar style with
almost any tie and for any occasion. The Four-in-Hand and the Windsor knot go very well with the Kent
collar. On a tuxedo shirt, you can also wear the Kent collar with a bow tie.
The cutaway collar can be recognized at a
glance by its widely spread collar points. The cutaway collar is perfect for a business suit, is worn
closed and with a wide tie knot. The button-down collar can be worn with or without a tie and has also
established itself in the field of business shirts. But please never turn the collar up.
The wing collar,
also known as “father killer”, is the collar for formal shirts. This collar style should be worn
classically with a bow tie. A necktie with a wing collar is a taboo.
Slim Fit, Modern Fit or Comfort Fit? Which fit do you prefer?
It is not so easy to know exactly what Slim Fit / Body Fit, Modern Fit and Comfort Fit / Regular Fit mean. Body Fit, also called Slim Fit, refers to men’s shirts with a strongly tailored cut. This close-fitting shape is created by darts sewn into the back. These darts pull in the middle section of the shirt at the waist. Modern Fit or Regular Fit men’s shirts are lightly tailored and have a straighter overall shape. Modern Fit dress shirts do not have darts in the back section. If you are looking for a very comfortable dress shirt with plenty of freedom of movement and pleasant wearing comfort, the Modern Fit men’s shirt is the perfect choice. Comfort Fit or Loose Fit shirts have a casual, relaxed look. Comfort Fit shirts are cut loosely and widely and are not body-hugging.
