The tie – how it is worn

Ties are THE accessory for shirts and are worn under the collar. They serve to cover the button placket attractively. Thanks to a wide variety of colors and patterns, you can choose the design that suits you and your style. Black, gray and dark blue appear serious and understated, whereas bright colors draw more attention to you. A popular classic among patterns is the diagonally striped tie. The classic width is 7 centimeters. Narrow models of around 5 centimeters are ideal for wearing with slim fit shirts.
To draw attention to them, you can use fine tie pins. You insert these through the collar and knot or use them to fix the tie to the shirt below the knot. An elegant tie clip is attached approximately in the middle and holds the tie in place on the button placket.

Most models are silk ties made from 100 percent silk, which have a stylish sheen. Designs made from polyester or wool are more suitable for everyday wear.

The classic black tie is simple and goes with all fashionably colored shirts. Made from fine silk, the clear black fascinates with the beautiful sheen of the high-quality surface.

But patterns are also very popular for ties, because the patterned tie brings color to the plain men's shirt. The classics among patterned ties are undoubtedly striped ties. Whether stripes, paisley patterns or miniature motifs - the patterned tie has become indispensable in the wardrobe of the fashion-conscious gentleman.
There is just one thing to bear in mind with a patterned tie: the pattern should be chosen to be as subtle and stylish as possible. Hawaiian motifs and office messages do not belong in a modern business outfit. That is why we do not carry these tie variants in the shop.

A pleasing trend: especially young men are once again happy to reach for the tie today. The narrow tie looks fresh, youthful and yet very elegant on the young wearer. Here, it is better to avoid patterns. The narrow tie (Slim Line) looks most advantageous in a simple plain color. So here you can gladly return to the black tie (also available in the shop).

Tying is a true art. There are a variety of different knots. What they have in common is that the narrow end is not moved, but only the wide end is looped around it. Classic knots include:

The right care for your tie

1. Store it hanging on a hanger or rolled up in a box.
2. You should keep it away from items of clothing on which it could get caught, for example trousers with zippers.
3. It is best to avoid stains.
4. In an emergency, you can dab silk ties with lukewarm water, soap and a sponge.
5. If they are creased, hang them up in a damp bathroom. It is also possible to smooth them carefully with a steam iron at low temperatures.

Silk ties in particular should be treated with great care. Today, however, they can be made from synthetic fibers in a deceptively realistic way. Thanks to nanotechnology, ties made from artificial silk are even stain-resistant.
